The Orchard School Fence

2002 / Brinsley Tyrrell / City Unknown

01120.jpg

Surrounding the perimeter of the Orchard School is a long iron line drawing depicting 565 children playing, skipping, skateboarding, juggling, and partaking in other fun childhood activities. Every child is distinct and there is no repeating elements. The fence posts are all hidden, expertly incorporated into the design.

One section was destroyed as a part of a motorcycle/car crash, but Tyrrell rebuilt a new section that commemorated the crash. The fence is beloved by the community, it was even carefully preserved as the rest of the school was taken down and reconstructed.
